It amazes me that so many people are reluctant or afraid to be vaccinated. Or have other ill advised reasons.  We are suffering an ongoing worldwide Pandemic and all the science points to vaccination being the path to herd immunity . And we are so fortunate that vaccinations are available (and free to boot).   Being of a certain age, we were in the first wave of vaccinations and were fortunate to have received the Moderna vaccine which has the highest efficacy.
We recently heard of a disruption during dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. The incident, in which a diner complained to the annoyance of many people around him, was over a condiment that was simply mot available that evening.
It seems that movies, shows, plays, museums, gardens, and parks are always hyped as being “can’t miss”.  I had heard for years about the Green-Wood Cemetery as a place that I had to visit.  I was not motivated because I really did not know what all the fuss was about.  A week ago, I finally took the plunge.
There are still so many decisions to make every day even at this stage in the pandemic.   I had a meeting the other day. I was masked walking in but knew the colleague I was meeting was also fully vaccinated.  Mask on? Mask off?
A friend and I had a bit of a debate this week. She had her view on a certain issue and I had mine. To support my view, I emailed her a news article I had found. She did the same. We had two different viewpoints on the same issue, but each was apparently supported by two different news articles.  The websites where we each found the articles were very reputable websites.
Friday I decided the time had come to substantially close down the deck and patio for the upcoming winter.  Part of the problem involved the level of plans that reduced expected opportunities to use the space much over the next several weeks.  Call it crowded calendar syndrome; not a bad thing; indeed we enjoyed early plans last night (More on that later.).
Big discussion here...do we have Thanksgiving like we used to...Or not.   I say YES. I've already got my peanut oil for the fried turkey and placed my order for the ducks (wait for it...Norm has a joke for this:) I even built a new area just for frying the turkey too.   After having a great dinner the other night with friends - the feelings of being together, sharing a meal, practicing the art of sparkling conversation, and laughing has stayed with me all week.
No kidding, I’m suffering from a severe case of withdrawal.
