Every morning I swim at the local pool at 6:00 am and one must arrive early to get a good lane. Thus, we begin lining up, huddled in the cold, at about 5:40 and there is a regular crew of swimmers (special are the ladies who regularly swim in lanes 2, 3 and 6) and gym rats (pictured).

You may recall from an earlier blog that in my family, we frequently offer "lists" to each other for desired gifts. This year, my daughter and I talked about the fact she wanted a satin cap for sleeping. (You curly girls out there will understand this in an instant.)
Last night she sent me a text with the name of a brand she liked. Later in the evening, I took a Facebook scroll -- and lo and behold, my feed was full of satin caps for sleeping. One advertisement was even for the brand she suggested.
My youngest daughter, Sydney, got married on October 28, 2023. Since that day I have been contemplating what I would say about her wedding in a blog.
There was an unexpected, for me, difficult part of the day. It was difficult to come to the realization that my baby (she’s the youngest of four) is no longer a baby. She was becoming a married woman with a husband and a family of her own. That thought struck me numerous times during the day and I struggled to hide my sadness from her.
