My 16 year old grandson Shawn visited us last week and he let it be known that he was learning to play the guitar.   Amazingly, he was soon peppered with all sorts of offers of stringed instruments: ukuleles on up through acoustics to electric with amp. Even a steel guitar. Of course he jammed.   We did not plan it and just marveled at the burgeoning bountiful serendipity.
I’m “on vacation.”Vacation - an interesting word and a more-interesting concept.Without delving into the scholarship of the origin of the word, it seems to me that vacation deri
Last week I read an article about ten foods that we might not be able to find in the grocery stores this year including pet food, lettuce, champagne and corn.
No, not the song.  Although the song does bring back memories of performing at Gotham’s Talent Show many years ago.
I could tell you a lot about the professional lives of the Gotham members that I know, their profession, how they came to it etc. Unless I have sat down with them, however, and did a one-on-one (which I highly recommend) I do not know much more about them aside from their professional life.   So, let’s do a virtual one on one here. I would love to hear something about your private life that we usually do not share at Gotham meetings. I’ll go first.
In this era where it seems (and maybe it's reality) that we receive more bogus, phishing, sales and solicitation calls than calls from those we know, I long opted to answer, "Who's calling."  Where I recognize the number as legit I answer the call with "This is Corey" or if the caller ID makes clear I know the caller,  i often state hi or hello (name of caller) because the caller knows they are reaching me and recognize my voice.
Last week, in Cohasset MA, a facilities director found electrical wires, temporary duct work, and a bunch of computers that seemed out of place while checking the local school (Cohasset Middle/High School).   He reached out to the town’s IT director, who determined that it was a cryptocurrency mining operation unlawfully hooked up to the school’s electrical system.
My granddaughter sends me a weekly question and my responses are accumulated until year end. Then they are bound in a volume for the purpose of memorializing Family History.     If the concept interests you please visit www.Storyworth.com.   The question this past Monday was: What is one of the strangest things that ever happened to you?
