Today we’re getting on a ferry. For me, there is something magical about ferries. We take the ferry from Long Island across the Sound to Connecticut. And then another ferry from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard.The first ferry is the alternative to driving on 95. It’s an easy choice. There is no alternative to the second ferry except a plane.

One of my biggest musical regrets is not getting to Woodstock in 1969.  I had tickets and was frustrated by the Saturday closing of the roads to the site.  I was stuck at the Port Authority Bus Terminal with my rock pal.  To take away the pain, we went to four movies that day!  

I am sure you have all seen the news story about the Little League World Series game where two young players displayed not only sportsmanship but compassion.   

Mitch’s blog this week, about the truth, brought back a deep-rooted memory for me. It was a memory that I learned from and carried with me throughout my career.    As a young attorney I was in the midst of one of my first oral arguments before a certain judge. I even remember his name and what it felt like to be conducting the argument in his vast courtroom.   

Last culminated a number of important events in the Order Knights of Pythias where I hold a number of roles in NewYork.

“Being honest may not get you many friends, but it will always get you the right ones.” Best I can tell, this quote is attributed to John Lennon.    The art of being honest with friends can be tricky. There are those that are blessed with the art of diplomacy and can say pretty much anything and you'll thank them for it. It seems most don't say anything while others carry and dispense truth like a hammer.
