This afternoon I get to run another outing to a baseball stadium. It will be the second time. First was June 14 at Citi Field, Mets v. Yankees. This one involves their high Class A minor league teams, Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets) v. Hudson Renegades (Yankees). As Friday's blogger noted on Friday (of course), we arranged to throw out the first pitch. Several of today's attendees joined me at Citi Field.
Nothing like a ferry ride across the LI Sound on a beautiful day like yesterday.
We were on our way to a wedding in Connecticut and instead of driving around on 95, we decided to take the Orient Point Ferry to New London. It's worth every penny. What a relaxing break.
I started to wonder what other alternate paths or breaks could or do I take during the course of a work day...
Lunch
Bathroom
Afternoon Tea
Maybe even a walk around the block
Drive to the ocean...
On Sunday I will be throwing out the first pitch at the (Mets minor league team) Coney Island Cyclones game (against the Yankees Hudson Valley minor league team).
They say the end of August are the "Dog Days of Summer", They say, "These days are numbered, you have to take advantage". We have been working remote 3 years now, productivity is strong. Has the second half of August changed? Are people taking more advantage? Has this traditional vacation time of year changed?
We are all in the people business in one form or another. We all service human beings. Those human beings might represent a business, but they are nonetheless humans.
We all have our deadlines. Work deadlines are usually the most prevalent. We all know when deadlines are approaching, and we all handle them differently.
I've been telling friends and colleagues I am free to accept certain appointment without checking first this weekend (and a few days before and after because I am (temporarily) a bachelor.
A friend liked my response to a a group text invite to a bagel breakfast that likely took place before most (other than Friday's blogger) read this commentary today ("I'm a bachelor this weekend so easy to accept.")
