Auto Correct or Connect?
I had a text message “conversation” with one of my college roommates last week that went something like this:
Stacy: Ro, Merrimack’s daughter grad [law school] in May. Would you talk to her?
Thinking this was a favor just for my roommate my response was, “Sure.”
Stacy: Thanks so much, Merrill [a friend of hers whom I have known since college] will be thrilled.
Me: Merrill?? For Merrill, of course I would. Look at what you wrote.
Stacy: Ugh!!! Auto-correct!!!!
Clearly, if I wasn’t inclined to do the favor just for my roommate, not knowing who the proposed interview was truly for, this conversation could have been very different. Which leads to my question, Auto-correct, fan or no?

Funny thing: most miscues occur through things we set up to make our use of the electronic devices easier.
Ugh.
As an aside, I can often find myself clarifying e-communications -- just to be sure. The subject header on many threads evolve to have nothing to do with the content of the original message(s).

I find it annoying, yet helpful when I'm at a loss for spelling--even easy words!
