From Aruba. The ordeal of standing in line at the Palapa Hut in the late afternoon heat to reserve a palapa was a time-honored tradition. Now that tradition is replaced by an app. All reservations are by app. The lady at the hut simply confirms your reservation and points you in the right direction.
I am reminded of a story told to me by Stu who introduced me to Aruba so many years ago.
“Two men are in line at the Palapa Hut at 7 am. One says to the other that he has seen him every morning.
“Do you own here?
“No. I rent.
“ First time to Aruba?
“ Oh, no. I’ve been coming for twenty years
“ And you haven’t bought? Why not?
“I don’t want to make a commitment !
Unfortunately, you can’t have that conversation in the app.

Same here. First one at the pool to get the best umbrella. Every morning. When we are in the true Windy place (way windier than Chicago)

We were there two years ago for a week. Where we stayed, there was no sign up for the palapas, you just went out in the morning and claimed one. My husband and I went out every morning at 7:00 to get palapa 57. And sat there. Our friends who came with us would come out at about 8:00 am with coffee. Nothing better than sitting under a palapa in Aruba drinking my morning coffee.

Technology has alot of shortfalls. This is a great example of one of them.

Just be careful, my wife had her worst Sunburn there, it kind of sneaks' up on you. ENJOY
