What people?

“Have your people call my people” – one of those catch phrases that I’ve heard over the years and never paid much attention to until recently when I noticed that there are no  “people”.

The “people” have been replaced by scheduling apps. I am intentional when it comes to my calendar – perhaps it’s a control thing - but I also appreciate the many ways that technology can work to save time and streamline processes.

So, I tried using a scheduling app and found that it didn’t afford the flexibility I need. It also took away a touch point of human connection that I like. Every conversation is an opportunity to enhance a relationship.

I wonder if the increased use of virtual assistants means that others feel the same way – humans are not always easy to replace. If that’s not the case, then perhaps the catch phrase will morph into “I’ll have my bot ping your bot.”

What’s your experience with these scheduling apps?

I don't use them. But I do rely on my electronic calanders and send invites out after my initial call or email for the invite. Or as a schedule reminder for myself.

The reminders are key which is where technology is helpful. And being reminded by a ring tone and pop up is way better than being nagged by a human. LOL

There’s a great story with those words. See me in person for it. And Calendly seems great.

Good topic as I prefer to handle my own schedule.

I find calendy to be offensive. When I am engaged with someone and they send me a calenday to schedule a meeting as opposed to saying "Hey, I can do there 3 times, let me know what works and ill send you an invite". Sending the the calendy is saying I dont have time to schedule a meeting with you so ill brush you off to an automated system to do it. If you cant take the time to schedule a meeting with someone and are sending a calendy it says to them that your not worth there time to even schedule the meeting.

I use Calendly to share my calendar with people to find a time that me and someone new are best available. This is usually used with people who also use the Calendly application. It helps from me having to look at my calendar to see when I am available. However, I also will provide a certain standard window when I am best available during the week (early mornings and late afternoons). The technology is good for allowing someone to plug in a time if you are busy with working on an activity or meetings or future invite while you may be on vacation.
