It's nice to walk into a restaurant and have a rapport with the staff.

La Parma on Roslyn Rd, is such a place. A solid southern Italian restaurant where Jerard, the owners son, works and Rollie is the operations guy.

It's our go-to spot after the Sparks program, where the ambiance, the genuine connections, and the authentic southern Italian cuisine make us feel more than customers—they make us feel like family. In the hustle of life, La Parma is a comforting retreat.

Tony runs a great place there. We still go there on purpose when on LI and after enjoying great meal there, have leftovers for the week. Yum. BTW, is WILLIS AVE.

We have a place near us called, Villa Maria. Same vibe for us. We know all of the staff, especially Maria and her family. It's our Sunday night go to,

I love places like this. My go-to in Brooklyn is Anthony's Place, on Ocean Avenue, near Sheepshead Bay. It's family-owned, the food is great and you can easily end up in an interesting conversation with other regulars. Anthony makes his own variations on lemoncello, so most often you're offered a taste of his latest creation to round out your meal.

New Haven is not just about Pizza. Our family-style restaurant is Skappo -Umbrian food, with much of the ingredients imported from the farms their relatives have. Anna ("Mama") greets everyone with kisses, stories, and joy; Yvette does waitressing and an occasional homemade olive oil cake; Michael is the wine expert; Marc is quietly cooking - unless he does a serranade during a break, Tom is the father who holds it all together - his artwork is for sale of course. Plus: Anna gives Italian Lessons, Marc is the Porcetta maestro, Better than dinner with Italians at home because there is no screaming or cigarette ash in the pasta.

It's always nice you frequent a place and the staff knows you. It makes the meal extra special. We have a few now down south. Alibi and Flavour Kitchen, both in Coco Beach.
