eMail Jail

For me, email is my nemesis.  No matter how many I delete, it seems 10 more show up.  I have tried unsubscribing from many services, but they always seem to find a back door in.  The main problem with the "junk" mail, is that it buries my essential business email.  This has ramped up to the point where I ask my clients to not email me, but to call instead.  I have tried many avenues to deal with the email conundrum, but all have fallen short so far.

Give me some love, give me your tips and tricks for how you deal with a bursting at the seams email inbox!

Happy Wednesday all.

All subscriptions and places I really don't care if I hear from are I on a separate account. Some SPAM gets through but not as much. I know there is a way to make folders on my main account but I have never bothered,

I agree with Shelley, have two accounts. One for personal stuff, where you will likely get more spam and one for strictly business. My work Outlook account is for business and my Gmail account is personal. It works pretty well most of the time.

Reduced my daily average from 800 to 600 by using the unsubscribe and Block sender functions on my IPhone. More effective and less dangerous than spammers’ unsubscribe buttons.

I maintain multiple accounts. I try Scott’s a”arrack”. You may also try designate certain email addresses as VIP and checking the box first.

My personal email address has been with me since the AOL days! The box is a hot mess. I agree with Scott, it’s easier to use the block function on my phone than to individually unsubscribe through the sender’s link. No matter how many I delete, block or remove, many more turn up in their place!

I try to un-subscribe on a regular basis. I could spend an hour doing it. The emails just keep coming. It seems like i am un-subscribing from the same companies on a regular basis over and over again. If there is a solution out there i have not found it yet. Please help!

I have several rules in my email that help with this.

1) ANY email that has UNSUBSCRIBE and is NOT on my PREFERRED list goes into my JUNK folder - this takes care of 99% of the spam

2) Persistent spammers get BLOCKED

That keeps my inbox sane.

Precisely what I have found too. I was told that unsubscribing on some lists actually notifies them that yours is a valid email address so they keep sending.

alas, I do not have an iPhone, but maybe Samsung has a similar feature?

Unfortunately, though I have tried to keep my business email all business, vendors that I have used in the past send relentless ads, and then sell my info to another vendor, etc, etc. etc.

Wash, Rinse, and Repeat: Never Ever Ever hit Unsubscribe on email from places you never subscribed to in the First Place. It is the gateway to have your email and other personal info sold throughout the planet, and perhaps even off-planet.

I often pick up the phone first stating I'm being old-school. I value the immediacy of it.
