Like Don, we have been having a Father's Day Golf Outing for over the past 15 years. It started out as Me, My Dad, Norm and Austin. As the years rolled on Jake started attending and it felt good to have my Dad and my son with me.

Although my Dad passed almost three years ago I miss him. He was a gentle soul even though life was difficult for him growing up. I admired him and was very lucky to have spent a lot of time with him.

This year it's Jake and I. We start anew. A continuing tradition that changes through time but is constant. We'll go out early, have breakfast at a diner and then go to the course. There won't be any betting because Norm isn't playing so we will just enjoy each other's company driving around a beautiful course, swinging the club and hopefully hitting the ball every now and then.

For all the Dad's that read this, enjoy your Father's day! I will

I do not have many pleasant shared memories of my father, but he must have made an impression as I always find myself quoting his words of wisdom. I wish I had more fond memories.

I am fortunate to have many fond memories of my Dad and both my Grandfathers, although I was quite young when my Dad's father died "with his boots on" in the office mens room. I had a very strong male influence in my life. On my Dad's side of the family, I was the first granddaughter after seven grandsons. On my Mother's side, I was the first born. Like Fred, I am always quoting my Dad and the Grandfather I grew up with until age 14. Parents and the extended family have a lasting impact on children, some good, some bad.

Based on "grown up" Fred, I'd say his parents did an excellent job. Maybe fond memories aren't all they are cracked up to be.

I am grateful for the influence I had. Of course, I wish there had been more time. I certainly would have grown into a different person in a different environment. Much of my business and personal choices are based on what I learned from those three men. I am blessed.

Article plus song about Fathers, brothers, uncles Especially for Fred. (he probably already saw it in the NYT). It's the thought that counts.

As I posted to the Fredslist and my social media, Happy Father's Day on its eve - in song http://tiny.cc/wr4pyw- to be played as Dads start their day (thanks @JackSundrud & @craigbickhardt). What a song to play on your way to the diner and from the diner to the course and then home. Check your email!

My Dad's birthday, June 18, was always around Father's Day? We always celebrated the two together!
