Lifestyle Change

Just back from a check up at the Doctor's office.

A year (or so) ago, he took my blood and reported to me that my cholesterol was dangerously high.

I was astounded, but so it goes. He wanted me to go on Lipitor or some other such thing. I am generally not a fan of prescription drugs. I think they are over prescribed, though I do respect the miracles they can perform in many cases. I didn't get my high cholesterol from a lack of Lipitor in my bloodstream. With the help of my professionally knowledgeable wife, I decided to address the cause through diet and exercise. The first month I dropped my "bad" cholesterol by 60 points. 6-0 points through diet and exercise.

Now that is a miracle.

I continue to improve, and no longer feel deprived of all those cheeseburger, fries and a Coke lunches. Antibiotic and hormone free beef, of course!

Usually. I mean, Shake Shack...

Weight is down, cholesterol is improving and my MD refers to it as a "Lifestyle Change," all because its been continuously improving for over a year.

What kind of "Lifestyle Changes" have you experienced?

Or want to experience?

All it takes is one decision, one degree to change course. Congrats.

Good for you! Glad you were able to make that change even if it means missing out on some of the things you most like to eat.

My Triglycerides were way up this last check up. I have for the last two weeks, reduced my sugar and carb intake and working on losing weight (down 4 lbs. since the change in diet). I definitely get that the clock is ticking. Great to hear your progress, without the meds.

Great choice to try before taking medication. Glad it all worked out!!! Going to a meeting next week on the 21 day fix nutrition/exercise program. My sister is on the program now. Seems to work. She feels much better, more energy etc.....lifestyle change indeed!
