This past week has been epic for my grandson Shawn Atom. One could describe it as a "Hat Trick" as he culminated his 7 year quest to become an Eagle Scout (achieved by only 4% of all Boy Scouts), decided to attend the venerable engineering program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and and is attempting to find a vocalist so his band can enter Gotham's 5/19 Greenwich Village Battle of the Bands ($2000 First Prize plus a performance Showcase at iconic Cafe Wha?).

Now, this is a blast from the past.
How many of you out there grew up with plastic slipcovers on the living room couch?
I was reminded recently of the personal experiences we sometimes bring to our professional experience.
Friday, I attend the Queens Borough President's Annual State of the Borough ("SOTB") speech. The last several years I've attended the SOTB with my daughter Marisa who works at the American Jewish Committee.
A silly family poem I heard every year growing up.
Spring has sprung
The grass has riz
I wonder where dem boidies is
Dem boides are on the wing

The wing is on the boid
There is a unique dive bar in Key West called The Chart Room. I learned of it reading Key West Lou's blog. It is hidden away in the bowels of The Pier House at the end of Duval Street.
It has quite a storied history, including Mel Fisher, Jimmy Buffet and many other Key West characters and luminaries.
