It would appear a judge is fed up with incarcerating offenders who appear before him in court. A Michigan Judge Jeffrey Clothier is putting sponges in the hands of shoplifters, ordering them to wash cars in a Walmart parking lot when spring arrives.

He hopes this unusual form of community service discourages people from stealing from Walmart. He sometimes sees 48 cases on his docket in one day. Clothier said he anticipates 75 to 100 people will be ordered to wash cars in March and April.

Walmart is supporting the sentence by providing water and supplies. It's unclear if they will charge the town.

Do you trust the end result of the wash? If vehicle is damaged, who gets the fault? Interesting in any case

Hmmmmmmm….maybe the NYC shoplifters can be sent to Michigan too?
