About five years ago, I wrote a blog about the issues I was having with a former client who owed my firm significant money. He had taken to the internet to disparage me and my firm in order to have leverage over his debt. The blog essentially centered on the help I received from others to deal with this sort of extortion.  Through that experience, I  learned how important it is to have a network of family, friends, and colleagues and that it is okay to ask them for help when you need it.

I face an interesting dilemma involving a City Council candidate I advise. We want to include material advocating his position on a very important ballot issue – Proposition No. 1 (“Prop 1”) – voters get to weigh in on this November 8 when voters will also find him on the general election ballot. Four years ago, voters chose him with 96.8% the general election following a bruising multi-candidate primary for an open seat. The year he prevailed in a two candidate race with more than 3/4 of the votes.

Fall is trying to arrive, leaves are starting to turn and it's a unique time in New York...   Basketball season is starting Hockey season is starting Football is in full swing and the Yankees are in playoff baseball (one win away from going to the World Series as I write this and, hopefully, will be on their way by the time you read this:)   Are you watching?

I don't want to jinx the Yankees or Aaron Judge by writing about their present ALCS standing, but this story grows out of it. 

Recently we have been witness to the incredible strength of nature. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and the wild fires of California. Nature at its strongest....and worse. Last week, we were walking in the Town of Huntington and saw nature at its strongest. Against a barren brick wall, in the crack between the wall and the concrete sidewalk, a white flower blooms. Nature at its strongest....and best.
