Drink of Choice

Last week was one of “those” weeks. You know the type, when you breathe a sigh of relief when you leave the office on Friday night. And, it was Friday night when I left. A judge felt the need to “punish” my client and her soon to be ex-spouse for not settling their case. The punishment? Scheduling a court conference for 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. Although, I’m still unclear whom the judge thought she was punishing, the attorneys or the litigants.

So it was with happy anticipation that my husband and I went to meet longtime friends for dinner Saturday night, whom we have not seen in the “real world’ since before the pandemic. On the way to the restaurant, I began thinking about the glass of Pinot Grigio I would be ordering when we arrived at the restaurant.

After hugs and greeting the longtime friends in the “real world,” my glass of Pinot Grigio was in front of me. I was able to relax, smile, enjoy my time with my friends, and savor a good glass of wine. I again sighed that same sigh of relief I felt when I left the office on Friday night.  It was a great, relaxing night.

I generally prefer wine over mixed drinks. What’s you “go to” drink of choice?

It can depend. Is dessert or coffee involved? What is available at the venue? If it is Liquor it could be Malibu Coconut Rum or Jack Honey or Red (or black) label. Dessert - Franjelica.
I enjoy a variety of fine and table wines, depending of the occasion and the food.

It's an old fashioned for me.

I hardly drink hard liquor anymore due to kidney stones, so I am more of a beer (too many to choose from) or an occasional cold glass of Prosecco.

Rye on the rocks with a squeeze of lemon and a twist. Ahhhhhh. :) (or a nice Bordeaux with dinner.)

Gin Martini - up. Sometimes with lemon zest, sometimes with olives (Never, ever "dirty")
Otherwise: Manhattan for the love of the place! Usually substitute a slice of orange for the Luxardo Cherry. (Never, ever "Mariscino")
Though my mother used to make a killer Negroni. She was well-known for this in San Francisco's Certain Circles.

Ah, I can feel your anticipation. Looking forward to a brunch, I picture the Bloody Mary.
