Assets

During times of tragedy, war, famine, and pandemic, the definition of assets change overnight. Country club memberships, social status, sports, and fancy heels, sit in the closet. How can they possibly contribute in times such as this? Underneath all of the intellectual attempts to civilize people and produce impressive technological advancements, we are reminded of our human biology. For millions of years, the basic fundamental connection humans share, is to support and defend the survivorship of the tribe, even humankind. The ethos echoed in certain circles include the intangible assets of courage, loyalty, spirit, persistence, and contribution. When faced with the question of describing your purpose and meaning, one must feel necessary to the group, otherwise, why are you there? Gotham is our tribe. We collectively join together for a defined purpose, with values clearly stated in our preamble, artfully constructed by our founding fathers and mothers. Our “elevator pitch” is a declaration of our purpose and contribution to our tribe. Please share what assets drew you to Gotham and which assets you selflessly share with your tribe?

It came to me in an inspirational flash and for that I am eternally grateful. It feels so good to give and when it goes around and comes around!
Dana Charlton

My assets were Fred Klein and Nancy Schess, who I was lucky enough to work for for the better part of 48 years. Now retired, I am grateful to remain connected to them and Gotham and be inspired by all of you. It can never be one-sided, though, and when I am fortunate enough to give, it gladdens my heart to do so.

Wealth of knowledge and information draws me in. Not to mention the support we give each other.

Glad to say Country Club is MAJOR ASSET right now. Open space. Grass and trees. Safe and healthy exercise. Sport. Camaraderie. Y’all are invited. And that is Gotham in a nutshell: differing opinions. Common goals. Helping each other achieve, and sometimes grieve

Beautiful post. We are certainly tribal - as Maslow says: first SAFETY, then BELONGING, then MATTERING to our Tribes, and only then can we grow and actualize. Great questions - how do I matter to the tribe and what do I need from my tribe? For me, community, connection first of all... hearing stories and experiences that inspire me from you all. Laughter, love and shared joy.... hoping I can help others as much as I am helped by so many of you, in so many different ways. Love this tribe.

How do I love GOTHAM? Let me count the ways...From my very first visit 18 years ago, I was drawn to the sense of family, ease of belonging and fun. GOTHAM teaches you to laugh, love and give. I also realized this tremendous social DNA is Fred’s greatest gift and legacy. The exceptional talent and dedication of Nancy, the Tribal Council, and the collective will of the membership’s familial loyalty are the qualities that continue to inspire and enrich. I have been privileged to meet some of the most interesting, accomplished, compassionate and generous people and clients anywhere and point with pride to over 100 new members I invited to join over the years and the NY Health & Longevity group I co-chair w/Ben Geizahls. My gratitude is boundless. Thank you for asking!

100% girl. Same for me. I have fallen in love with my Gotham friends, all over again. The spirit of giving to one another, selfless giving of our natural talents, is the magic. Sustaining group of people.

Speechless, Kelly. Wonderfully written and full of feeling. I feel it ALL the way over here in PHILADELPHIA

JOSH ZINDER introduced me to Gotham. Over the years, he's become a very big part of my life. He's my friend, my colleague and my confidant. He brings strength, resilience, commitment and tenacity. I'd want him in the foxhole with me.

The GOTHAM Tribe has an enormous collection of Assets. A brilliant collection of the most wonderful traits. Priceless. We're RICH!
Corey Bearak

It's a place to make a difference and supportive of those who do.
Joshua Zinder

I suppose I would have been drawn to Gotham eventually but in many respects it was forced upon me by a Force of Nature my sister SUSAN ZINDER! She was relentless and I am eternally grateful to her tenacity and support! Even more than a brother deserves! And thanks to the pied piper Fred Klein I have a tenancy to volunteer even whe nI knwo I should say no. He has shown me that networking is so much more than business.

CARLY it would have been selfish of me not to share you with Gotham! There are so few brilliant, talented networkers who always look out for others, out there when you know of a gem you simply must share!

Wonderful post and wonderful responses. Its amazing, warm, and caring members drew me towards Gotham. I was raised with the values of Tikun Olam---something I hope I continue to share---certainly a value Gotham continues to act upon.

It’s a small world and being part of the Gotham tribe makes it even smaller . To reach me high above Silicon Valley in my remote outpost. Poignant and timely , key players just a phone call away with a worldly and poignant point of view .

You glow. You glisten. You are the jewel in Gotham’s crown. If Josh hadn’t found you, we
would have to invent you!

Same magic for me too. So glad to hear from you!!
