20 . . . 21 . . . 22

The 20th, 21st and 22nd mass shootings in our country just in 2019 alone. 3 + 22 + 9 = 34 people whose lives were cut short. They were mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters – to someone.

I am so angry at all of this that I can’t find the right words. These atrocities are acts of hate against innocent people. While I so very much appreciate the way communities come together to support each other in the face of unspeakable tragedy, it is happening with just too much frequency.

This is all just not OK.

You're right. This is not OK.

It's not OK but how many of them are caused by someone with mental illness. We, as a society, need desperately to address this issue as well.

THIS GUN VIOLENCE IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU GET IN A CULTURE WHERE ANYTHING GOES AND NOTHING MATTERS . EXTRACT ALL THE MEANING AND PURPOSE FOR BEING HERE ON EARTH AND ERASE AS MANY BOUNDARIES AS YOU CAN FROM CUSTOM AND BEHAVIOR , AND WATCH WHAT HAPPENS ,ESPECIALLY AMONG YOUNG MEN .
THE PROBLEM IS NOT GUNS . It’s hearts without God, homes without discipline , schools without prayer and courtrooms without justice .

Horrific. Tragic. I read earlier that over 20% of high school students say that they don’t even have one friend. My daughter told me this sounded about right as expressed during her “challenge day“ in high school. Such heartbreaking alienation. If you look at the similarities between so many of these horrific incidents, it is tragic. There are so many fronts which may, or may not, help that it is almost overwhelming. Background checks, red flag procedures, mental illness assessment and support, desensitizing video games, kindness programs in schools, reporting structures, not sealing files of those under 18......perhaps it will all help if combined. ;( Heartbreaking. And like Laurel says above, we need to start diagnosing and caring for those in our communities with mental illnesses.
