Summertime Funtime

You can feel it in the air. The weather is just about to change and with that change will usher in my favorite season.

Summer. That time when everything seems to slow down, if even just a little. That season when the beach calls me, or even just a lounge chair with a glass of wine and my Kindle (Yes, that wine is a sweet Moscato but I have already written that blog). That season when just stepping outside in the morning starts the day right. That season when weekend chores seem to be pushed farther down the “to do” list than usual.

It is just about here and I am looking forward to it.

What is your favorite thing to do during summer?

Believe it or not I delighted in outdoor summer chores last Saturday and look forward to being able to spend time in the garden next weekend. I planted flowers, replaced potted bushes on the deck, started up my fountains and did other things I haven't done on my own for several years. The person who generally comes to help wasn't available and I decided to tackle things on my own recalling how much I use to love doing those things. It was wonderful and invigorating and I made me remember how much joy working in the garden always gave me.

The feel of walking into a cold ac room after being outside on a hot day and feeling the immediate chill on the back of my neck. If outside, it would be under a shade tree enjoying a light breeze and listening to nature around me.

I couldn't possibly choose one thing I like to do best during the summer... there's just too much to choose from!

Sitting outside for morning coffee or an early evening glass of wine. When the roses bloom. Cutting and creating vases for friends. (Even deadheading is a meditation). And definitely longer days and more time to unwind in the evenings. :)

Dancing outside in the evenings. At events at Vanderbuilt in Centerport, Oyster Bay - Dancing in the Streets every Friday in July, Mid summer Night Swing - Lincoln Center...Just going for a walk on the beach....or with my dogs....and Photographing every flower I can find....
