What makes a star
Most people think that a star is someone who has talent, fame, fortune etc. Yesterday I changed my opinion.
While paying a condolence call to Gotham’s cofounder Nancy. Schess, I saw her daughter Jackie. I hadn’t seen her since her high school days when Nancy used to bring her to Gotham events, and also when she ran the Oratorio event a few years ago.
Most everyone knows she goes to Yale, (speak to Nancy, the proud mama, for five minutes and you will certainly know). But did you know that she is earning her degree in public health by traveling all over the world working in third world countries helping people improve their life?
She has been to India, Africa and was on her way to Brazil yesterday.
So who is the real star, the college athlete who plays ball hoping to get a fat contract as a professional; or Jackie Schess who may or may not become world famous, but whose life’s ambition is to make the world a better place?
