I know that Corey blogged about this topic on Sunday – but I just cannot think of anything else to blog about today that makes any sense and would not seem completely superfluous. I suppose you can consider this a theme.
This past Saturday Mitch posted about Halloween. He had mentioned that he had not yet bought candy. Given the current circumstances, I can understand why he waited. As a candy lover, however, I always am very well stocked several weeks before Halloween. This year was no exception.
Since Gotham allowed me to regularly blog in this space I used this Sunday before Election Day to urge folks to exercise their right to vote. It remains something I feel very strongly about. The first professional remarks I ever drafted involved such participation in our electoral process.
It's Halloween today and I don't have any candy. I'll need to run to the store to get some but I'm wondering...
Do I need to wipe down every piece?
Will they take the candy if I put it out?
Will there even be trick or treaters this year?
I never had so many questions about Halloween.
As a follow up to my recent Recurring Dreams blog, last week I had a brand new dream.I was running hard in a road race and I was on pace for a good time when I turned a corner and saw a long train (pictured) approaching an intersection at breakneck speed.
The line wasn’t quite around the long block. It certainly wasn’t as bad as we had seen earlier or the day before or as we witnessed the next day. The rain and mist had stopped and it was a bit milder.Everyone was wearing a mask and the line moved steadily. People in pairs were in conversation while those alone were preoccupied with their phones.
This week I’m taking personal inventory on what I deem important vs what others deem important. Am I living intrinsically or am I motivated extrinsically?
I’ve never been a fan of allowing others to dictate my decisions, nor do I desire the responsibility, or weight of other’s decisions. Why do individuals feel compelled to convince others to have the same beliefs? Is it okay to be an individual today, or has collectivism replaced independence?
Celebrating our individuality is what creates flavor. Ideas are what keep us growing.
Are you authentically living your unique self?
Based on my very informal survey, I would say that procrastination is on the rise. Yes, we have probably all fallen victim to this periodically. However, our current times seem to be the culprit now. With all the added distractions, disruptions, and challenges of running a business during these unusual times, I personally have found myself procrastinating more frequently.
