Another Shift-Juno

Categories

Yet another shift in our evolving society with the sunsetting pandemic.

Recently, I've had numerous conversations with professional colleagues about business and the state of affairs. Consistantly reported, is this zeal for face to face encounters. With the resurgence of in-person meetings, most are redefining productivity. The 'new normal" is in direct opposition with our "natural normal". What has surfaced and what is now trending, is the search for appropriate balance between video meetings and the in-person investment of time for natural relationship advancement.

Have you noticed this shift?

I'd like to hear what you've been experiencing for the month of June. Please share a short brief.

More in person meetings are accepted, but I still do the majority over the phone, email or virtually.

I recently caught up with a dear friend who owns a professional service firm. They have sent out a memo to all employees that they will be open for business face-to-face after Labor Day, and are receiving pushback from employees who want to continue working from home. Very difficult situation. Now it is a negotiation. How many days will they be allowed to work at home, what about availability, productivity metrics, etc. Very difficult. I have heard this a number of times. Especially in financial services, or client facing industries where networking and trips to clients and other states are part of the job description. Interested to hear other peoples thoughts.

I am finding more people who are looking for options for not returning to an office-based life. Many are struggling with family care and health concerns. Some just realized they like being in control of their time. Personally, I am looking forward to being back out with friends and family and to doing some in-person events for business. My business has never been local and with my kids on both coasts, I am used to using online resources. I feel like the world has caught up with me since many are now used to being online and on the phone, As with everything else, finding the possibilities instead of problems helps.
