[Promo] Outstanding Marketing

I am honored to have been one of this year's judges in the
<http://www.upcea.edu/> University Professional and Continuing Education
Association (UPCEA) Marketing Competition last week in Washington, DC. 

 

The contestants were from continuing education marketing departments of
universities from the U.S. and Canada and there were many fine entries. The
winners had several things in common: 

*	Clean design - excellent photography, bold, sans serif typefaces,
few ornamental elements
*	A well-defined marketing message that was communicated both in the
text and graphics
*	The choice of vehicle (printed piece, social media, website, outdoor
advertising) was chosen taking into account where the target audience would
be

 

Below is one of my favorites: 

 



 

Georgia Tech took a negative PR event and faced it head-on with a program to
educate and enforce ethical behavior. The program's logo succeeds on several
levels: 

 

*	The words "ethics" and "tech is" have the same letters, rearranged
*	The design echoes a computer circuit board (tech)
*	Gold and white are Georgia Tech's colors
*	Attendees of the ethics program receive stickers to post in their
offices so the effort is visible to everyone on campus.
