Negative!

Up is down and down is up and negative is positive!

Say what?

2 weeks ago I went to a favorite restaurant with a bunch of friends (see last week’s blog for details) and we had a wonderful time!

However, the next day the bloom was off when the owner called to inform me that the order taker, who briefly sat at the table with us, had subsequently tested positive for Covid.

I immediately informed all attendees and recommended testing.

We were all tested and the very good news is that all results came back negative and that’s why, to my mind, negative is positive (and we can’t let our guard down)!

The new normal … here we are almost 2 years later - I wonder if we’ll ever get back to a casual, free and easy lifestyle? A time when we were not constantly and conscientiously vigilant .

We didn't come this far to be blasé about our health. There is more to this story ... the value of contact tracing to avert a larger issue and the value of the test. It also makes me wonder if being vaccinated didn't offer some additional protection. That we can only speculate about.

Instead of going to a friend's house party in their backyard, I elected to attend a farewell concert for a favorite local band in a large, ofttimes crowded bar. My wife was a little concerned about the social distancing at a concert meanwhile one of the house party, party-go-ers announced two days later that he had tested positive for COVID.

I know how nerve racking getting a call like that can be. Glad things worked out. Everything happens for a reason. It was either a reminder to stay vigilant or a reminder that we can only control so much.

Did you get tested?
Rona Gura

Yup. Had the same issue with a client right before I was supposed to leave for vacation. Luckily, I was fine.

Since I am always out and about, I get tested regularly, mostly for the sake of my parents.
