Kickstarting Hillary
When it comes to social media, I am delayed. A few weeks ago, I would have said that I don't do social media. My change to “delayed” status reflects my recent experience with Kickstarter.
I had heard of Kickstarter, but until our children, Alyssa and Jason, put their new project on Kickstarter, I had never visited the site...nor had much inclination to do so. When they told me that they were doing a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for their new Hillary Clinton Action Figure, I still had reservations although I knew that sooner or later I'd visit the site.
In going through the process with them, I have gained insight and come to appreciate this little corner of social media. They have created loyalty of interested backers - willing to put their money behind something they believe in. The Kickstarter campaign has spawned general media interest in the more-conventional print, television and on-line coverage which has led to more publicity which came back to bolster the Kickstarter campaign. All good.
Had it not been for the personal connection, I never would have seen the light.

Sadly, we are mourning yet another sudden young loss in our community, just last night, because it has affected my sons so deeply I cannot start either project, keeping that faith that someone (a guardian angel will).
