Technology Trouble

Last week I blogged about being beleagured by a (Hack) Hoax and once that was resolved I immediately proceeded to lose my phone.  The second was surely worse than the first.

The only explanation is that my pocket was picked.  Believe me, I looked everywhere!

I hope it never happens to you.  What a horribly helpless empty frustrating feeling.  Everything is lost and you are alone without recourse.

One has no idea how dependent they have become on their mobile device until this happens.

Thank goodness for my partner Jane Jacobs who serves as my phone techie.  In that capacity she had all my info backed up in the Cloud, which I hardly comprehend, but it worked. Within 48 hours I had a new phone loaded with all my stuff.

It was a miracle!

Oh, for the simple good old days! I can’t imagine what’s next...

We have. I have a tendency to leave my office and after driving a few blocks realizing I left my phone on my desk. The feeling that comes over me when I realize that is very unsettling. I’m glad you’re up and running and hopefully they were remotely able to wipe the old phone clean.

I see the look of panic on my husband's face at least a couple times a month when he's thought he's lost his phone. Most recently, he left it on the table at a restaurant. The restaurant is not one we regularly visit. We've been trying new ones as we increase the distance of his walks, part of his physical therapy. We were about a block away when he started grabbing his pockets and said he didn't have his phone. Luckily, it was in my hand. :)

And in a way - technology saved the day - all your info backed up, so you were able to retrieve it. But.....back in the day we used to survive with a dime and a pay phone - ha ha ha

There is an app “findmyiphone” that locates your iPhone, iPad, etc on the device you have. It also lets you erase your lost phone remotely. It can be a life saver, certainly a phone saver.

Maybe it fell out of your pocket...

I love my phone and consider it a valuable asset both personally and professionally.
Makes my life much easier.
No need to be addicted or overly dependent, if you don't want.
MUST have a backup plan (or two) always in place.

Yes, Judy, a dime and a pay phone, just like Superman, we can change with the times or not.

My family have our devices set to find each other devices if need be. Of course having other Apple devices also helps and keeping certain data in iCloud.
As to going without my phone. I left both phone and iPad in vpcar when dining out Wed eve. I had to xplain that to our Tek and more guru Raj but he told me later it was a good thing.

We all have become so dependent on mobile devices. Do get that shock proof cover installed for the new Apple device you had yesterday at Gotham Queens Breakfast.

We have all had this happen. One of mine wound up in my dishwasher I never use!

Sorry to hear of your phone troubles. Thank goodness icloud saved your info Fred. Leaving my phone behind is a frequent occurrence for me, at home & work...oh the time lost searching for it at home. Still prefer chatting on a landline so yes, I'll keep my old fashioned landline at home for as long as I can convince my hubby to do so!

Ugh ! I hate to admit to any kind of dependency . I no longer have a land line . Thank God . The ultimate intrusion . Now that all 7 kids live away from home it's the lifeline . The kids , my wife. Fred and Paul . That's it . Everybody else is selective on my part . If I was able to teach the Dogs to use one ........ Geeze I'd be so surprised as to how far away they actually wander into the woods . I keep my IPad on my lap and my phone on the table . Dual sources . What am I talking about at this point ? Losing my phone ? I guess I have to admit it . No sense being cavalier about it . Losing my wallet used to be the ultimate . Now ? .....I suppose losing my way .....

I cannot even imagine how torturous that was. I left my phone at home a few weeks ago-while at the office all day-and that was horrible. Even though anyone could have gotten me in the office, not having my cell phone was torture.
