Vacation

It’s that time again for me. As the weather starts to turn a little colder, the season makes me start thinking about vacation.  The concept of vacation is such a personal thing.  For me, I look forward to a good book, a glass of cold, very sweet, white wine, sunshine and a pool.  I also enjoy some historical vacations.   One of my favorite weekends was visiting Hyde Park not that long ago.

All of that said, I am ready for ideas.  What is your favorite vacation? And, what would you recommend for me?

We want to do one that includes Memphis and Nashville -- me in part for the music

and when we next visit mom in Delray we may explore a cruise and there is a beach at Lauderdale by the Sea with a nice view/ bar restaurant and we think staying by the beach or just off it overnight or more would be just fine.

Key West-especially the biking with Charcoal!

Vacations go two ways, either relaxing and biking around somewhere wonderful like Key West OR in 10 days I leave for 2 weeks in Uganda trekking through the jungle to see mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, tree climbing lions and forest elephants. Some are purely restful, others are adventures! I highly recommend going to Africa, it is the birthplace of humanity.

2 favorites - 1. 1 week rafting down the Colorado River between Moab and Lake Powell - absolutely amazing and life changing - - 2. 6 weeks to New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.

I would go rafting if I was you

To just relax and veg? Cancun or Rivera Maya (same airport). It's a short flight. Go to an all inclusive, relax on the beach or at the pool and have your fill of sweet frothy drinks with umbrellas in them (I know you like them!!)

Unfortunately I don't often get to go on vacation but my favorites are ones with family that combine relaxing by the water and some time to see things we haven't seen before. Cayce I specifically logged on to ask that you take lots of pictures and share them with all of us. Your trip sounds absolutely amazing.

I am of the same mindset as Rona. Cancun and Riviera Maya are always a favorite place for us each winter. For me it is R&R.

I have been going to Spain for 2 weeks at a time about 4x a year. There is always something to see; either in the built environment or the gorgeous countryside each of which is different depending on where they are located. I have never seen such a variety in natural landscape as well as how people have tried to modify it. I love the small cities; the art is world class. Seville, Valencia, Barcelona, etc., Airbnb and sometimes a small hotel. Great food and wine, easy on the wallet.

You hit on my very favorite subject. After all, this is what I do every day - assisting people in picking and planning great vacations. Take into consideration the season and how you want to spend your days. I love the beach vacations - all inclusive resorts & cruises for basic R&R. Costa Rica has both adventure and beach and Columbia is a big up and coming destination. How about Cuba? As they say - the world is your oyster!
