A new(er) one

I finally found one. It's tough being a guy who wants to drive a manual shift car (aka stick). A lot of manufacturers stopped making them and the new ones that are available are expensive.

 

But that didn't stop your intrepid "wheelman." I found a used 2011 BMW 328i xdrive with only 30k miles for a very reasonable price so I bought it. You can ask the members of the Traveling Wilburys how the ride is.

 

The funny part is the dealer bought my Saab with 181,000 and the day after they received it, the clutch blew. (they must've been banging it around:) I felt bad but as the dealer told me it's not my problem.

 

Now I'm driving a nice machine and having fun as long as I don't get stuck in traffic. So all you slow left lane drivers...move over.

I got a new car this week. Although I am not a car person. Ecstatic to have automatic start and a sun roof.

I have had a lot of cars over the past forty years (!). And only two of them were manual-- a 1940 Packard (with three on the tree), which I drove to high school in the 1970s and a brand new 1987 Peugeot 505, which was part of my compensation package when I was transferred to Buenos Aires. Loved the Packard, detested the Peugeot, largely because of the horrendous traffic jams endemic to Buenos Aires, and having to actuate the clutch constantly. Oh, and my wife had a 1988 Renault 11-- a rather dowdy little car which was also manual. I guess I must have driven it come to think of it, but it wasn't mine. Good luck with the new car!
