Blessed by the Pope

The Pope's visit evoked memories.

My mother was Catholic and she baptized me.

In 1963 I visited the Vatican and bought a St. Christopher's medal for my mom.

I kept a diary and on 7/14/63 I wrote that I then "went to St. Peter's Square to get it blessed along with countless others. At precisely 12 noon the window opened and Pope Paul appeared dressed in an all white costume. He spoke Italian and Latin for about five minutes closing with the classic pose of spreading his arms and blessing me, the crowd and my medal. I got a chill from a very great experience."  See picture above.

When my grandson was baptized he was given the blessed medal.

This Pope is a Rock Star - Humanist as opposed to idealogue

I was at the Vatican three years ago. While I am Jewish, I found it incredibly inspiring. I felt compelled to buy, at least, one cross. Mine and my husband's secretaries are the beneficiaries of my inspiration as we gave them the crosses, which they both treasure.

St.Mary's Catholic School.........Catholic girls were forbidden fruit. We even had a whole neighborhood dedicated to Catholics, (Canterbury woods ) where the O'Hara brothers ruled ! Pope Pious was the serious and scary Holy Father at the time. It was very righteous to be a catholic. St. Christopher medals and all. HAVING been to the Vatican many times I'm a little de-sensitized now but still am in awe of his holiness and what he means to over a billion catholics worldwide now again undergoing extreme persecution worldwide by radical extremists. What a world we live in and how settling it is to see this Pope amongst us .God bless all of you.

Welcome back Mr. Sends!

When I was very young I dropped a quarter in a nun's bowl. She said God Bless you, young man. Not as good as the Pope but I still got chills.
