A Selfie Challenge

Amongst my friends I admit that my husband I take frequent selfies. Amongst my friends I also admit that they are mostly pretty awful. My kids run the other way when the camera comes out because apparently we are embarrassing.

This past weekend, we reached the epitome of selfie embarrassment. On two different occasions, we were attempting to take one of those awkward selfies and on both occasions a very nice passerby intervened and offered to take the photo for us.

Can you imagine the scene if the need to intervene presented itself not once, but twice, within 48 hours?

Are you a selfie taker? And if so, do you have any advice for me?

I can never get the angle correct. My son has it down to a science. Some of our best pictures together are selfies that he has taken. He's tried to coach me but it's no use... I'd love to read some of the pointers too.

Always let the shorter person hold the camera.
Landscape not Portrait.
Take a breath before clicking.

I once passed a tourist who asked me to take a picture of his family. I did and then ran away with his camera.

We generally find someone to take the pic. I think the penultimate moment in that regard occurred in Princeton earlier this month. BTW, if Shelly does not approve of a pic taken on her iPhone (and sometimes mine) it never sees the light of day.
