It's All About the Hair

I thought I would follow Don’s lead and write about a topic which concerns my head.

When I am asked whether I would cut my hair, my answer is usually the same, “Never. I am my hair.” And, while my response may sound comical, there is some seriousness in my answer. I cannot imagine ever cutting my hair short, changing the current color, or wearing it in a drastically different style than I do now. When I am in the mood to “switch it up,” the furthest I will go is allow it to dry into my natural curls instead of straightening it as I usually do

I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. I have observed lately that, for some people, their identity is closely tied to their hair. One cannot imagine Donald Trump without his signature hairstyle or color, Christie Brinkley without her long blonde hair, or a picture of Bo Derek without her cornrows. And if you google “Jennifer Aniston,” there will still be pictures on the first page of the famous “Rachel cut,” she sported in the 90’s. For these people, their hairstyle has become a part of their signature or brand.

How do you feel about your hair?

I like the variety of cutting it short and then letting it grow long and bushy.

I've been wearing my hair curly for almost two years and loved the freedom from the hair dryer and then my husband recently told me he prefers my hair straighter. Sooo, for him, I am taking the extra half hour a day to blow it dry. Still not happy with the drying or whether I can identify with the style but my husband should know that pay back is a ....... and can be expensive :)

I LOVE my hair. Always have.
Strangely enough, as I was leaving my friends house Saturday afternoon a random woman walked up to me and said "You are a beautiful woman". I jokigly said, it must be the dress. She said, "It's your hair.

Yes, yes it is. You know that I relate to this. Over the years, the difference between straight and curly has been a big deal. Still not sure which one I really like.

Earlier this year, I cut & changed my hairstyle from a looong term cut, stopped coloring and I couldn't be happier. It's more me and has increased my revenue and creativity. Not to mention gained time.

I like that I have some. I find as I have not quite as much as some years back, I need to crop it more often. I prefer long hair. If a certain person reminds me I can post my high school pic.

My curly hair is my signature. Curly hair has an air of freedom and frankly, as many men as women found it attractive and memorable. And the color is just right, now. It is my bigger beauty luxury and worth every hour and dollar I spend. I straightened it in college, long, blond, thick -- my college buds still remember that (and I have some great photos from that error). I love hats, but don't wear as much anymore so as not to flatten the curls - a nominal sacrifice. I save a ton of time in dry time and straightening. This also means my hair is VERY healthy. It does require some attention and it grows INCREDIBLY fast, no it needs shaping more often. I did try it longer, again, but it didn't compliment my face.
