Yesterday I posted the above photo of the Williams sisters saying Williams will win last night's US Open match between them.

Of course one of them had to win, but I had divided loyalty.  In the end younger sister Serena prevailed in 3 sets against Venus, her greatest adversary and best friend.

There were so many emotional sub texts.  It was amazing.  Now I hope Serena goes on to win her Grand Slam.

Althea Gibson would be proud.

I did not know the winner until I saw your blog. I remain so focused on the Mets. By the time I peeked at the ESPN channel it was Men's tennis and they were discussed fantasy football wide-outs on NY1's "Sports on One - the last word." This morning when I turned on Boomer and Carton they were on the pitcher formerly known as the Dark Knight (and one of the biggest ever NY team comeback wins -- can anyone think of a better one?)
