The Last Supper

It’s that time of the year; my daughter is heading back to school tomorrow and my step-son goes back next week. So, the conversation in my house has been focused around a very important topic, where will we be taking them out for dinner the night before they leave? This is a very serious discussion as apparently, in Buffalo and Binghamton respectively, you cannot get food that is at all equivalent in quality of the food near home.

Their choices as different as the two of them, for Sydney, it’s sushi and for Ryan it’s steak. I remember every summer before going to sleep away camp having the same important discussion with my parents. For me the choice was always the same, an Italian restaurant where I could order lasagna. My camp was a kosher style camp so I knew that the piece of lasagna I was enjoying the night before I left would be the last combination of milk and meat I would have for the next two months.

What would your choice be for your last supper?

We always cook a "last supper" at home for our kids and they pick their favorite meals. If I was eating at home it would be Lasagna, if I was eating out it would be a nice steakhouse ....

It has nothing to do with the quality of food in Binghamton or Buffalo, Away at school, THEY PAY with their limited budget, At home, WE PAY with a supposed unending pocket full of money. We didn't bring up no dummies!

Many of the better steak restaurants now have sushi chefs too...something for everyone!
