Jurassic World

Last night we went to see Jurassic World.  Eve was a sport in going to see a movie she had little interest in and she kept asking me when it would be over. The best part of the movie was actually one of the coming attractions. But what would you expect?

I will not tell you the story line. If you can't guess it though you probably have been living in the Stone Age. Let's just say things break, people scream and run, children get lost, and there are a lot of big angry beasts with very large teeth. I am trying to find a deeper meaning somewhere, but that is like looking for a Machiavellian theme in Keeping Up With the Kardashians.  It is pretty much a waste of time.

On occasion though I do enjoy intellectually vacant entertainment like this. I would like to see Poltergiest but can't get anyone to come with me and I am too scared to go alone. That just crosses the line for Eve. I don't blame her.

Not that the movie last night was all that bad. Movies in 3D IMAX are cool enough if they have 9 ton beats stomping in the jungle and sprinting little raptors. It all just takes a bit more effort after that when you come home late Saturday night to get into a romantic mood.

Haven't been able to log in but you know who this is....I'm thinking Jurassic Park as foreplay might just be another age defining subject.

I was thinking the movies I like to see most -- even from the past --- just do not seem to find any space, even on those vast cable listing. Some I find on youtube but just like hearing a song you like on the radio, elevator or the supermarket, there's some innate validation when what you like gets a chance to be enjoyed by others less or totally unfamiliar with the fare.

Saturday night I saw "Barefoot Contessa" on PBS, different brain part than Jurassic, no dinosaurs but Ava Gardner and Humphrey Bogart, extinct but not forgotten.
I look forward to the simple mindlessness, yet amazing technical talent, of Jurassic.
