I thrive on the email. I love it!

I find it so instantaneous and available that I just can't resist it. In that respect I'm fortunate that my friends are responsive and equally hooked. I can't imagine how I/we ever existed before email and I'm sure that Gotham, which is paperless, would be nonexistent without the advent of email at our onset 18 years ago. Most of my correspondence is by email, although I do have a few difficult to reach people who I have to text.

This is not to say that email is perfect or flawless. From time to time I run into situations where either my communication or someone else's is too black-and-white and misunderstandings occur.  This can be somewhat alleviated by the creative use of a :-) or two. However there are some people, who when I am with them face-to-face are so nice, convivial and funny, who come across almost mean spirited in email. :(

I wish I could tell you who you are, but the next time you send me an email please think of this blog. :)

Long live email!
Block the mean spirited!

I do think Gotham would exist without email. We'd just write our messages on our cave walls...

I would not get to speak to my niece or nephew if I didn't text them…but between email and texting I almost don't need my office land line..

Can you explain the mean spirited? I feel the same way and I wonder if it just me because I sit in the back seat..., :)
Fred Klein

In your case it is not mean-spirited from me it is just tough love emphasis on the love!

on the other hand, most of my day is responding to emails and it quite inefficient, I wonder can't some young someone come up with something that will make email obsolete, like the 8 track, almost the fax....I think there is an improved way out there, but can't quite imagine it yet. ..I think email is very temporary and not going to last because who can deal with the hundreds of emails a day :), :),:) (covering myself)

My problem with email is that people expect an immediate response. Sometimes, when I refresh the page and I see numerous new emails I want to groan.

I meant in general because I feel the same way. Nice in person, then bad vibes thru email., I admit I am sometimes curt because of time constraints. Mean is never an intent.

Succinct is the word. Not mean spirited. E-Mail. I want to say ugh ! I mean....I use it . I have over 12000 unread emails in my G-Mail inbox . But I scan the page only responding to whom I want to at that moment. Certain folks merit an immediate response but not many . Fred and Joanne for sure . Why ? Because they are right on top of it . I think email may be passé for me although I will always use it . I text and I Tweet. Hard to believe . Although I despise Facebook because it is so insidious , Twitter allows me to rant to my followers at will with acerbic comments about the world as I see it . You know .....Things like we live in #Idiotville and who cares about ISIS when we can see Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair ! And is Kim Kardashian's ass a thing of beauty or just plain FAT ? Ugh . I feel a rant coming !#Idiotville .#wakeupamerica

What is it about boys who went to Roslyn High School?

You need to, as with any communication when to respond and to what extent. I like email as a record and I try to be careful and deliberate, even when I offer a light comment.
