Our Very Own Honoree

Friday night was a special night for Gotham.  It was the 21st Annual Theresa Awards Dinner.  The Theresa Alessandra Russo Foundation is a not for profit that honors the memory of Theresa Alessandra Russo by touching the lives of children with special needs and their families.  Theresa, who would have been 29 years old on Friday, was born with a rare illness that took her when she was just five years old.  Her parents Vincent and Susan started the Foundation in her memory.

There were many Gothamites at the dinner Friday night to see Fred Klein recieve an award as one of two honorees.  In introducing Fred, he was rightly described as a giver and connector, as well as a trouble maker.

He delivered his acceptance speech wearing his Gotham t-shirt under his suit jacket, always proud of his extended family.  While noting the well familiar Gotham mantra of it is better to give than recieve, and what goes around comes around, Fred had something else important to add.  He said that the night was not really about him, or the other honoree.  It was about the human spirit.   The spirit that keeps on going and keeps on giving.  Well done, our friend (though I gave you the idea).   You hit the most important theme of the night like a laser.  Right on.

Nice report about a very nice guy by another nice guy. It was a fun evening. Shelly said so.
It did hit me reading HHDB's blog this morning -- why it did not hit me before I am not sure -- but thought how my own son reaches 29 this year.)(P.S>
