Old Friends

We traveled last weekend to the Berkshires to stay with old friends. It was our first visit in two years. So we had a lot of catching up to do.

One of our friends' tongue in cheek "House Rules" is "Gossiping is encouraged, during your entire stay".

Well, lots has happened in that 2 year interval and boy did we gossip. I must admit I love to gossip and have been accused of lacking a filter and being unable to keep a secret.

Nonetheless, my fiddling (my college nickname was Fiddler, a take off of Jimmy Fiddler, a gossip columnist of the day) is fun for me and draws laughs from others.

Another "House Rule" is "Laughing is required".

Did you feel guilty on the way home after the weekend? I find that a bit of guilt oftentimes follows unfiltered gossip.

I am having lunch today with my oldest friend from childhood, Tom Staudter. We haven't seen each other in five years, but the conversation will no doubt be, "As I was saying..." Gossip about people I haven't seen in something like forty years will dominate the conversation. And politics will also be on the agenda...

I'm bad-I love gossip. But I know when to keep my mouth shut-it's a job requirement.

I tried so hard to out you, but loyalty trumped my gossip impulse.

TW would not be the same if you had a filter.

Two things
A. I LOVE that Laughter is required! I will now look for a sign like that for my home.
B. Vincent Russo should really think about honoring the other Klein, the pretty one that
I am sure must kick you under the table, roll her eyes and give you that stare. She deserves a trophy. A really nice one. I know you agree :)
Butch agrees!

Filtering is an abuse of energy and gossip with laughter and without malice is really just spicey conversation. Glad you had plenty of it. And I'm not anonymous! This is Shelley Simpson!

Jimmy Fidler (one L BTW) wow ! A name from the past. I remember him from the NY Post ! I still download the Post every day for Yankee news, half dressed girly pix and bloody photos of say Frank Costello shot in the Barber Shop or Joey Gallo gunned down at Umberto's in Little Italy. Nobody does those things better than The Post !! Gossiping with old friends about old friends is one of my favorite past times ! It's gossip PLUS. The high octane kind that only old friends can share. Like Bob Archer throwing Roger Gilbert down the RHS front stairs for trying to date Madolin. And then finding her at Moe's and kicking her in the ankles while gripping her arm in seething jealous anger. Can you imagine what that would wrought today ? His wife of some 45 years BTW ! Gossiping in the men's locker room at the gym ? Wow...The 5'2" 300 pounder who kind of rolls around the gym without touching anything? Gossiping with my wife about local neighbors although the word RETARD is off limits. Also I'm not allowed to call America "Idiotville" in the house. I have a friend that lives across the ridge. Steve Wozniak. He's smart. He prints his own money in the basement . He raises Llamas. He's rich but passes those Two Dollar bills at the local market. He also co-founded Apple. He points his green laser pen at airliners. He's coming over for the Mayweather/Pacquaio fight. I'm buying ofcourse. I have Cubans in my humidor. Diane has a sign by the TV that says "If You Must Smoke Please Don't Exhale." Wozniak has a butt crack showing by the way. Kids have a discreet picture circa 1995 or so. Hairy by the way. He drives a lifted Hummer with Flowmaster exhausts.
