Cranky

That’s me! I had a bad week last week. Did you ever have one of those weeks where every time you turned around there was another crisis to avert? That was my week.

Happily, this week has started out better but I am still suffering from lingering cranky.

Any suggestions for how to relieve the stress? How do you get yourself out of a cranky mood?

I know my answer is going to shock you but here it is; take yourself shopping. But, here's the kicker, go either by yourself or with a good friend and only shop for yourself. No purchases for Bill or the kids, just you. If you really need some help with this, I volunteer to go along with you. :)

Nancy "cranky" is better than most folks usually. Just my 2 cents.

For me, different kinds of crankiness require different "cures." Sometimes I just need a bit of "time out" relaxation (an hour or two of something mindless, a glass of wine or three, etc.); other times, I dive into work to get a sense of accomplishment; and sometimes it just takes the passage of time and a good night's sleep (or two) for it to pass. Now leave me alone, because I'm cranky today.

I release my flying monkeys! Seriously, stand in front of your window, channel your inner Wicked Witch and yell "Fly my pretties, FLY!!!" It makes me laugh every time I do it.

Nancy Cranky!.... Never!
Exercise does it for me. How about hitting a boxing bag.

I go for a walk and appreciate the people I pass, the trees, the sky, the flowers, etc.
Or watch either a very funny movie or a very sad one, either of those extremes get the heebie jeebies moving out. Remember this too shall soon pass.

I woke up cranky...restless night of sleep (or lack of), while making coffee I noticed the most beautiful rainbow and two gorgeous cardinals perched on my window sill. Life is good, life is beautiful. Perfect reminder. Just what I needed. Whomever made that happen, thank you.
Usually, I have to just let it pass....and yes, I warn those around me to keep their distance :)

Music!
Just belt out "At Last," and at least the neighbors will be smiling...

I try to recall Grandpa Sol's advice, "be calm and cool at all times."

Good music helps. I have songs for all moods and occasions.

Playing ball; no one I play with has any involvement with what I do.

I keep several nurf balls on my desk.
