The Wizard Of Oz

Categories

Do you remember the classic 1939 Judy Garland movie where they were off to see the Wizard on the yellow brick road and when they eventually found him he was a very ordinary little old man behind the screen?

Very disappointing to say the least.

Are you a Wizard of Oz?

To the contrary, it is just profound.

He was a wise wizard with the help of the items he was able to bestow - the fact that he was an ordinary man - made him even better. xo G

I still cry and get scared when I watch it. And I don't think the Wizard was ordinary.

No but I have met a few. Actually I find this applies to more than people when something appears to be intimidating or frightening and you lift the curtain and find out it's not such a big deal. The flying monkeys however are another story - they are a force to be reckoned with. Just ask Liz Saldaña!

He wasn't an ordinary old man. He was a great con artist.

Isn't Fred the Wizard??

Whoever you are you are the only one who caught the drift of this blog. I consider myself the little old ordinary man behind the screen in Gotham. Good catch!

Think about what the wizard represented in the book as a symbol. At the end of the yellow brick road, and all that travel, there was nothing. all frippery with nothing to back it up. An empty suit, a phony. Thank goodness for the good fairy. At least she had a magic wand.
David Abeshouse

It could be argued that Fred is part Wizard, part good fairy, part Dorothy, part lion, part tin man, part scarecrow, etc. -- and it's that amalgam that hints at the sources of the force that is Fred.

Puts things into perspective. We are all wizards every now and then. But YOU Fred are bigger than life. You don't fit the story line in this case . Who are the real wizards ? The guy who is putting a new roof on my barn? The mechanic who finally figured out why my "check engine light" was on ? How about Mr. Wizard Don Herbert ? I think The Wizard of Oz should have been a dog. Mine teach me something new every day.

The point I took back all those years ago related to finding that wizard in ourselves.

Remember, this was all Dorothy's dream. Except the flying monkeys...they're real. LOL
