Superstitious Spoons

Last Thursday morning I was finishing our normal morning routine making our bed. As I finished straightening the blanket and organizing the pillows I heard the clang of metal on metal. It was odd and every time I moved a pillow, there it was again. You may remember that last Thursday morning we had some snow – actually a lot of snow.

More than ten years ago, my son was in nursery school where he was taught that the way to ensure a snow day was to sleep with a spoon under your pillow the night before. That superstition is apparently live and well in our house as I discovered that every spoon we own had been hidden under any available pillow.

I suppose it worked. We were having a snow day.

Do you have any superstitions in your family?

Interesting! Never heard of that one! Well, hide all the spoons. It's Spring! None in my family but there are always skeletons in the closet.

My family was convinced the communists were taking over.
I guess thats not really a superstition...

My daughter Calli, age 23, put the spoon under her pillow last Wednesday night also. I think I was the only person who was happy to see that it works.

Never heard that one. My late mom-in law had many. I have routines in certain circumstances; will not label them stuperstitions.

I don't have any but from now on I will make sure there aren't any spoons under the pillows.
