Only Love Can Break Your Heart

Categories

I have never tired of "After The Gold Rush" and have always been a fan of the great Neil Young.

Most recently, I was fascinated by his book "Waging Heavy Peace" and his professed love for his long time wife and collaborator Pegi.

But then he divorces the love of his life for a Mermaid.

Love can break whose heart?

Agree with Neil Young - and Paul Simon " Losing love is like a window in your heart" ;-)

I love that LP (After the Gold Rush):

Actually knowing Neil's history, that he maintained a marriage of some three decades plus with Pegi, actually amazed me. Neil always traveled his own path, even together. My sense early in life and his career, an immaturity and lack of appropriate paternal guidance, helped keep him from working his issue out in the group; instead he left, moved on, dropped out (sometimes in). Buffalo Springfield would have been bigger than the Beatles if Neil could have found a way to stay in the band the set the mark for most of the music I still listen to.

Daryl Hannah. Mermaid ex of JFK Jr. Living in the heady Redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains Take a deep breath in the woods and smell the hint of salt air mixed with the scent of Redwood. Late afternoon and the technicolor setting sun finds its way through the thick Redwood branches. You are alone with nature. Out of the corner of your eye you first see a glimpse. A flash of blonde.....Some emerald green . Eyes . Long legs. Beautiful. Intense. That's what happened to Neil Young. I know this because it happened to me awhile back. He is a neighbor of mine . We live in the same forest.

I think the autobiographies written by all these rock starts has gotten out of hand. Are their lives really that interesting? Sex, drugs and rock n roll. Have heard it before.

Several years ago there was a TV bio special about Neil Young and his evolution as a writer, musician and singer. I have loved his music as long as I can remember. The bio, however, revealed a cold, often hard-hearted, and selfish personality. I am not surprised. See Corey Bearak above.
