Face Dances?...or maybe Face The Face!!!

I saw it on the news, but specifically avoided the social media assaults.  Anonymity too easily draws out the ugliness in people.  She walked the red carpet, in what was titled the "Elle Women in Hollywood Celebration."

Is this really something to celebrate though?

I don't know if she had suffered from excessive plastic surgery and went this far for corrective purposes, or if this was just the next procedure in attaining the way she wanted to look.  What I do know is that it is really, pretty creepy.  I am desperately trying not to judge her, but often we only really control whether or not to talk about judging someone. She looks like...well, like someone else.  Is that really an insult?  Is that ok?  If it is ok to just make ourselves look like someone else, why don't we just send people to these events in expert make-up, rather than putting them through risky surgeries.

If you didn't know who she was, you would indeed think that she was beautiful.  almost like Glenn Close and Jennifer Garner had a baby.  What do you think?  If you could make yourself beautiful surgically, but then you would look like a completely different person...to you spouse, or your kids, or your parents...would you?  Is that ok?

I did Lasik. If I felt it were safe & painless, bring on the laser knives!

Love the Pete Townshend/Who reference in your title.

My wife just had plastic surgery. I cut up all her credit cards

OMG!! You're talking about Renee Zellweger. I thought she looked like Cameron Diaz.

I readily admit that I had my nose done at age 22. For me, it was a game changer-totally boosted my confidence. I do not think, however, I would do anything else.

Have not seen Renee Z's new look yet! Now I am really curious! Surgery or having a procedure can be dangerous as evidenced by Joan Rivers unfortunate death. Not in favor of looking like someone else! However, not against minor improvements.

I have tried to become more understanding about it out of compassion. Like many, it is not an issue of judgment, but rather the impact of what happens when it goes wrong. I have seen women and men on TV, some who were incredibly good looking before they started down the path, end up looking terrible and even ruining their careers. It is not that she looks bad (if you walked up to her not knowing who she is, you might think she looks great), but how will anyone be able to look at her without thinking about it. Part of being a great actor is making yourself disappear into a character.

I just the other night said to my wife that I truly hope that Jennifer Garner doesn't "jump the shark" regarding plastic surgery. I think that she would grow old so beautifully.

I personally would not go for a completely altered face, but would not look negatively on anyone who wants to do it. I knew a very homely woman, bad ears, everything. She had a complete make over into a lovely looking woman and came out of her shell. She left her husband who was a very nice fellow but also quite homely.I didn't think that was fair.

I quote Cher - "if I want to take my boobs (she used more blunt language) and put them on my back, that's no one's business but my own". - geraldine newman

yes, that's what I'm concerned about. I think that whole full lips thing is some kind of fallacy that women have created as a way of making themselves feel worse about themselves. I have never heard a guy say, wow man I love how thick those lips are. Just as I have never heard a guy complain wow that girl is cool/cute/hot/nice/etc. but those lips are just way too skinny!

I recall the Daily News Wed morning detailing the (alleged?) changes. I respect folks right to adjust their bodies; I questions the comparison photos in the Daily News since the earlier one was straight ahead stare look and the current one a smile shot. It makes for a difficult comparison; perhaps unfair; not all folks mature the same. Some look the same; others do not.
