Cameras Around Us
I was on line in the bagel store and noticed the fixtures in the ceiling. Video cameras in the bagel store. I wondered why. I hadn't heard of any robberies. Was the owner keeping an eye on the employees?
Cameras tracking (and ticketing) red lights and speed in school zones. A good idea for safety, although I am skeptical of the motivation, especially when municipalities are considering camera fine revenues in their budgets.
Surveillance cameras in Times Square, all major public places, even elevators.
Cameras -- being watched -- have become a fact of life. And how about watching? Do you install the nanny cam or camera to watch grandma and the home health aide?
One assumes that if you do nothing “wrong”, you don't have to think about the cameras everywhere. I am not so sure.....

And I think you are being to kind on the traffic revenue issue. I don't believe that there was a significant enough problem with people running red lights to implement such cameras so that massive numbers of people can get hammered with not sitting at red lights for three seconds before turning right. It is immoral.

Recently, similarly to Dana's story...maybe it's the same street... A woman was accosted. Luckily, or for the predator, unluckily, a new celebrity tenant on the block had cameras installed when he renovated.
