Do you ever splurge on yourself? If so on what?

Anyone who reads my blog knows I am a fan of handbags.  Two years ago, when my husband and I were planning a trip to Paris for my birthday, a close friend asked us to buy  for her a Louis Vuitton tote bag. She was celebrating a special birthday and was willing to splurge a large amount of money on this designer tote bag. She knew that it would be cheaper in Paris and, we agreed to purchase the bag for her.

While in Paris we went to purchase the bag for my friend.  We had not realized that we would have to wait on line for an hour in the Gallerie Layfette department store. As we stood on that line I started looking at the assorted Louis Vuitton handbags.   I found a much smaller bag than the one we were buying for my friend. My husband and I looked at one another and we both knew the purchase was going to be made.

Admittedly the handbag I purchased for myself is a small black bag that I use all the time. Would I have spent the amount of money that my friend did for a bag? Absolutely not. If I was not standing on line in the Gallerie Layfette for over an hour would I have splurged and purchased the handbag? Probably not.

But I am really glad that I did.

Ask him if he would like to join me next month in Boston at the event by REN (Reproductive Equity Now). This is the rebranded NARAL Pro Choice CT/MA/NH organization.

I will introduce him to the Connecticut Atty General, who is getting an award for his protective measures for providers.
This invitation is extended to all GOTHAM members.

Congratulations! To your son for professional and academic achievement. To you for your achievement as a parent.

I splurge on gifts for my wife, especially when traveling. Always brings back memories of the trip too.
Traveling on vacation. The best part is buying it in secret and presenting it down the road for a special occasion.

I remember when it was a pocketbook

I would have too. Lol. Life is short. Eat dessert first and buy the bag! (I used to hesitate and evaluate whether we should could… And then Paul would just buy it for me. Whatever it was. Lol it’s delicious to have a partner who spoils you and, we should spoil ourselves!)

Congratulations
Very impressive and his work in Social Justice is so important, especially for the younger generations.

Someday I'll join too. Bill keeps asking . . . And, we looked for a chapter close to Eric but unfortunately, there isn't one.

We need good people learning how to be Mechanical Engineers!
My spouse is an Electrical Engineer and my father was disappointed when they met.
My father was an Architect and could have used a Civil Engineer in the office.

Joe’s ability to tell you that he wants to prove you wrong shows both his self awareness and an ability to communicate his feelings. And if he weren’t nervous and intimidated, I’d worry.

I also have a high school senior with early onset senoritis. Its frustrating to deal with but I guess its the norm for most kids, they see the light at the end of the highschool hallway and want out! I found that kids that age for the first time in there life are making a significant and important life decision, sometimes they need some gentle encouragment to see things clearly and make the right decision, and sometimes the need to be pushed with the parents guidance knowing better than they do a tthis young age.

Best of luck to Joe! If needed a good friend of mine from Lehigh is a very successful M.E. H e has worked on top secret government defense projects as well as developed the airport scanning systems used today.
If you like, I can have him speak with Joe if you think it would be helpful. Congrats either way, impressive!!

At this point, we are thrilled if goes to college. But I hear you with regards to engineers

It will always be our fault regardless. But I do want him to decide. I don't recall so many years ago if I had seniority. We pushed to the end for GPA.

Congratulations and all the best to Joe. Sounds like he is going to be up for the new challenge. Kids going away to college is generally harder on us as parents than it is on them.

Reminds me of a movie called, "The Beekeeper" Jason Statham.

Last week one appeared at the library where I volunteer. Everyone said "What's That?" and then someone said "What do they eat?". I was the only smart ass who said "Pollen". And then (smart-assedly) "They don't sting."

I'm with Dan: climate change and habitat loss. It's quite serious, but so are so many of the other problems the earth is facing at this time.

I'm with Dan: climate change and habitat loss. Very serious threats to bees and eventually our agriculture.

I honestly didn't watch most of the draft past the first round. Let's see where he ends up in a few years.

Americans love a comeback story. I hope he has seen the error in his ways. I’m rooting for him.

Excellent blog! Have read about this and spoken to a few "NFL inside guys." I believe his lack of preparation during the team interview process had a lot to do with teams "taking him off their board" as teams test players in a variety of ways when they have team visits. The Giants, for example showed him a play and had him critique it and he missed what went wrong. After a large piece of "humble pie," I will be rooting for him to succeed. Not sure how the son of "Primetime" isn't a fast runner.

I know nothing about football or its players. However…. I understand a “fall from grace” was as a result of some negative event. So…. What happened here ????
