Finding Balance

Lately I have been exploring meditation and yoga. During every session, the instructor asks the participants to set an intention for the day or think of a word that will guide us through our day. Almost every time the word “balance,” comes to my mind.

In our hectic, continuously plugged in life finding balance can be an elusive goal. I have been finding that, in my quest for balance, I have to learn to compartmentalize my time.  For me, finding balance in life is not about dividing time equally between work, relationships, and personal well-being—it’s about prioritizing what truly matters in each moment.

When I am at work, work is the priority. When I am home being with my family or partaking in an activity, I enjoy is the priority.  I have truly been trying to stay in the moment during my personal time and avoid looking at emails and now, text messages from clients.

As much as I am working on finding balance between work and personal time, it is still, very much, a work in progress. How do you maintain balance?

It is difficult. Especially as I work from home most of the time. The switch to turn work off or keep personal time out of work time is a challange. I usually end up working odd hours and time on weekends because of this.

I'm pretty sure I fail miserably at this -- and applaud your efforts to be focused on this.
