Joanne, Charcoal and I annually "snowbird" in Key West, the southern most point of the continental United States and home of mile marker 0 on the US-1 highway.

My birthday is in two days and, as per our 10 year tradition, we memorialized it by photo opping at the appropriate mile marker (Leigh Connell picture).

Our friends Leigh and Jim Connell have ferried us there the past 2 years and there is talk of the beginnings of an annual tradition. I sure hope so, because they get it, they get me and I'm all about Tradition.

As you can imagine, spending so much time together in a car allows for animated and interesting conversation. Many topics came up, eg, family, politics, fishing, sports, trivia and more. However, the most poignant topic surely involved speculation as to my final mile marker!

Ah, mortality...

I wouldn't waste time speculating, just keep going. And now I am going to spend some time listening to some Florida Georgia Line.

Happy Birthday Fredo. Our friends grandmother turned 113 this past January. Unfortunately after breaking many records she suddenly passed last month. Hopefully you have many more miles to go before you sleep. 30 more miles to go until you break Oma Rose Girone's record ! So, keep on trucking as you're going down the road !

In your fantastic condition (not a joke), I’m sure you’re going to get at least to your often stated 100 mile marker and probably a lot more. I hope I’m around to celebrate!
