I have had a beard since 2011 and on and off before then.

The most compelling reason therefor is the luxury of not having to shave each morning. In my curly haired case, shaving was probably more daunting than for others.

Call me lazy or practical, I'm one satisfied non shaver!

Not only does my beard add stress free minutes to my day, but, obviously, it masks the ravages of time (no matter how gray, white or silver).

In fact, being in Key West, I am considering letting it grow out in preparation for the annual Hemingway look alike contest.

For whatever the reason, I strongly suggest you try it, as I know you will like it (once you pass the initial itchy stage)!

I am a quarter inch to three-quarter inch guy. When it gets to 3/4 of an inch, I bring it back down to 1/4. Started doing it 10 years ago at your urging, and kept doing it at Victoria‘s.

Good to know my advice was heeded :)

I keep one too, but just a short one. I find if too long, it requires more work, so I trim it down each week.

I remember my boys waiting excitedly for sufficient facial hair to shave and the ability to grow a beard and yet neither has ever grown one.
The psychology of beards is fascinating. I've seen the importance of having facial hair or not is to the people I know in the transgender community. As for me, it's out of my control and despite your suggestion, not something I can try unless I opt for a beard toupee.

Go for the Hemingway contest - then shave it all off .
Let that beautiful chin of yours be exposed to the sun. Then if you don’t line it- grow it back. That’s the great thing about hair - it replenishable. Especially yours ;0)

I've had various lengths of beard since I was in 11th grade, but in recent years have trended shorter as I find it the easiest to maintain neatly.

I don't recognize myself without a beard. Just like with anyone wearing a hat, I think men with beards look more interesting.

I remember you without a beard...

The beard is your trademark, bravo! Tried to grow one in college and in my early 20's and it came in patchy.

I’ve found that having my barber take care of my beard twice a month keeps it looking sharp and well-groomed without too much effort on my part.

Beards make life a bit easier for men. I can't wait to see your Hemingway version!
