A new perspective

I encountered some new feelings the other day. They were fascinating and changed my perspective.

I was driving a loaner electric vehicle while my car was being serviced, and as I passed gas station after gas station, I couldn't help but feel differently about them as I smiled.

The car was extremely quiet yet took off like a rocket ship from a standstill. I could feel the "G's" as I was pushed back into the seat. What fun!

Are we headed to a time when gas stations are few and far between and charging stations are everywhere?

Not quite yet. Range anxiety is still a thing and will be until battery technology and charging infrastructure are improved. No one wants to wait 40 to 50 minutes to top off a charge when traveling. Long term battery life is still suspect and costly when it needs to be replaced $15-$20k is not uncommon). Electronics for most manufacturers are still suspect and repair work can take weeks or months. Are they fun to drive, yes they can be. But I and much of the country are not ready to give up gas just yet. Its why all the manufacturers are rolling back their plans to build more.

Was it standard shift? I think not and you need that control!

Late to comment, as usual...my apologies for not reading this earlier.
Bottom line on EVs seems to be that you are up the creek without a paddle if you reside in an older apartment building.
Those with freestanding garages can run a line and recharge overnight. Those without a "free' connection to electicity are hobbled.
Of course, with the costs for EVs dropping lately, Buy yours now.
