We had spent a full day in the City.  Our last stop was at Chelsea Market to buy some fish to take home for dinner.  We got back just in time for the start of the Syracuse game and had our remote handy to switch back and forth to the Wisconson game, the schools that two of our children went to.  Little did we know as we sat eating our dinner in front of the TV in the living room that we had just done something to doom one of those teams!

My youngest graduated from Wisconsin a few years go.  I never cared much for Big Ten sports until he went there.  I then became an avid Badgers fan, watching many of their games and rooting for them like my life depended on it, usually wearing one of my many Wisconsin red or gray tshirts, long sleeve shirts, or sweatshirts during their games as I watched on TV.  It soon occurred to me however that just about every time I wore anything with a big W on it, they lost.  So this was the cause of their spotty record and loss in three consecutive Rose Bowls.  Henceforth, I would not wear Badger clothing whenever I watched them.  And wouldn't you know it, things got better.

Last night as I turned on the TV Eve came downstairs wearing a cute little Syracuse sweatshirt.  That's the spirit, I thought.  But I had forgotten the curse.  And sure enough, Syracuse went down in smoke.  (Wisconsin on the ther hand, won in a nail biter.)

So to all of you Syracuse fans, on behalf of myself and Eve, I apologize.  If she had only worn something else last night.....
