Late Evening

This blog was inspired by Tuesday’s Long Island Women’s Group meeting....
As I was deleting emails on my phone the other evening, an email dropped down from a client updating some information. It was late and I usually would not have been looking at emails (but for my compulsion to clean out my inbox).
Instinctively, I forwarded the client’s email to Olivia who is working on the client’s matter with me.
Within moments, Olivia responded to my email and we exchanged emails for a few minutes.
It was late. I never expected Olivia to respond that evening, let alone, that quickly.

The emails could have waited. Perhaps, I should have waited.

In my "current life" I usually stop looking at email by 9pm and look only twice a day or so on the weekends. I don't get much email after 7pm these days. I'm more likely to set up an email to send first thing the next morning instead of emailing someone at night. Both, so as not to disturb the other person and so as not to get into a late night email conversation since by sending an email, the recipient could reply right away and then be looking for a further reply back. In my "former life", email was constant and I was in world that was more of a 24/7 operation.
